  INTERNATIONAL MOVIE SERIES "SEPET"
cc As a Culture Corp project, ISSS will present a series of international movies this semester.
Sepet is a 2004 Malaysian romantic comedy drama film set in Ipoh, Malaysia. It tells a tale of a love that blooms between a Chinese boy and a Malay girl. 19-year old Ah Loong is in charge of a stall pirated VCDs . His life takes a sudden turn one day when a Malay schoolgirl, Orked, arrives at his stall. Love blossoms between Orked and Ah Loong, although there are social and racial pressures that stand in their way. Afterwards, we will have a discussion on the film.

COST: Free and open to the public with free Malaysian

  Small World Coffee Hour
SWCH logo
Small World Coffee Hour (SWCH) gives all international and US students, staff and faculty the opportunity to meet with each other in a relaxing environment and to learn about other cultures and traditions around the world. SWCH events are free and take place every other Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Approximately 200 people attend each event, so come join us in the fun!

Students, scholars, families and friends! Mark your calendars for this get-together to celebrate graduates in 2007 and 2008 as well as everyone who has completed a program and returning home. Great food! Music! Take a self-guided tour of the galleries and have your picture taken with Goldy Gopher!

Good Bye Lenin! Is a German tragicomedy film, released internationally in 2003. In 1990, to protect his fragile mother from a fatal shock after a long coma; a young man must keep her from learning that her beloved nation of East Germany as she knew it has disappeared. Afterwards, we will have a discussion on the film.
